MWM DesignGroup provided professional design phase services for both temporary and permanent stormwater infrastructure as part of the Capitol Complex improvements. The project involved temporarily relocating the stormwater system crossing Congress Avenue north of 17th Street to facilitate construction of a parking garage and pedestrian mall between 17th and 18th Streets. The temporary system included a lift station and force main spanning the excavation.
The permanent improvements featured a redesigned, upsized storm drain system with box culverts up to 6’x6’, extending from the outfall at Waller Creek to Congress Avenue. The work encompassed modeling and design of storm drains over seven blocks, requiring close coordination with existing and planned infrastructure in a congested downtown area.
