J. Dan Brown Family Baseball Player Development Center

The University of Texas at Austin

MWM DesignGroup provided civil engineering, landscape architecture, and surveying services for the expansion and renovation of the Texas Athletics Red & Charline McCombs Stadium. This project enhanced facilities for softball student-athletes and Athletics staff, delivering new and upgraded spaces such as locker rooms, training areas, a player development center, and a state-of-the-art pitching lab.

Site civil services included coordination of accessible pedestrian routes with existing conditions, utility extensions and connections, and collaboration with the UT Landscape Architect and Arborist.

Site civil improvements and project scope included:

  • Accessible pedestrian access integration

  • Utility extension and connection

  • Coordination with UT Landscape Architect and Arborist

  • Work within the City of Austin right-of-way requiring specialized permitting

The project faced unique challenges due to limited space between the existing facility and the right-of-way, which complicated accessibility improvements and utility connections. Additionally, as a state entity, UT required specialized coordination and permitting with the City of Austin for work within the right-of-way. MWM employed alternative, expedited permitting methods to secure approvals efficiently, ensuring the project design and construction schedule remained on track without compromise.
