To reduce operational delays at Lavaca Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, MWM DesignGroup implemented routing and infrastructure improvements, including a contraflow bus lane on Guadalupe Street between 18th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. MWM provided civil and field engineering, site assessment, and construction observation for the project, which involved traffic control with advanced signage and water-filled barriers, street excavation, handicap ramps, 14” reinforced bus pavement, shared-use paths, sidewalks, driveway reconstruction, utility and streetlight relocation, and signal modifications. Completed in 26 days, the project required close coordination with City of Austin Public Works, Capital Metropolitan Transit Authority, Austin Energy, and other stakeholders.
