The modernization of Brentwood Elementary School replaced the original 1951 building with a new 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility designed for 696 students. Located on a 7.848-acre site in the Brentwood neighborhood, the project was part of the 2017 Bond Program and was delivered through the CMAR procurement method. The existing facility had scored a 34 on the Facility Condition Assessment and a 48 on the Educational Suitability Assessment, underscoring the need for replacement.
MWM DesignGroup provided civil engineering, landscaping, and permitting services for the project. Site design challenges included tree preservation, drainage and grading, water quality design, and off-site water, wastewater, and stormwater service connections. The team also coordinated off-site improvements with the Safe Routes to School program. Permitting efforts involved securing site development permits from the City of Austin as well as separate land use and construction approvals.
