When sections of the sidewalk around 400 West 2nd Street began to fail, creating holes that posed safety hazards and ADA compliance issues, MWM DesignGroup was brought in by the City to assess conditions and recommend solutions. The project required urgent action in a high-traffic downtown block with numerous adjacent businesses, demanding both speed and sensitivity to minimize disruption.
MWM provided civil and in-field engineering services, delivering the repairs on time and on budget. Work was performed during nights and weekends, with temporary access ramps and daily coordination provided for eight surrounding businesses to ensure continued operations throughout construction.
Improvements included:
Removal of over 15,000 brick pavers
Construction of a new 15-foot patterned concrete sidewalk
Reconstruction of 8 tree wells
This project restored public safety and accessibility on a critical pedestrian corridor while maintaining strong coordination with the local business community.
