San Gabriel Campus – Austin Community College

San Gabriel Campus – Austin Community College

MWM DesignGroup provided civil engineering design services for the masterplanning stage of this project. We facilitated coordination with the City of Leander by navigating TOD requirements (which were in the process of development), reviewing drainage requirements, and analyzing water quality options. Unique site features include a large natural drainage channel that crosses the site.
In addition to this work during master planning, MWM prepared a Concept Plan for the initial step of entitlements, and provided quality control review of the civil construction documents produced by others.
MWM provided landscape architecture and irrigation design services and construction documents for this project coordinating closely with the landscape architect engaged during the master planning.

The design includes:

  • rain garden
  • rain water harvest and irrigation
  • streetscapes
  • pedestrian malls
  • Construction documents for grading, hardscape, landscape and nonpotable irrigation design
  • Design for tree protection/mitigation for existing trees to remain
  • Construction phase services (projects are currently under construction)

Our design work is supplemented by also providing permitting assistance for both the site plan and building permits. Our permitting team works closely with the entire design team to strategize and oversee the permitting process. Located on 100 acres at San Gabriel Pkwy. between Hwy. 183A and Mel Mathis Blvd. near the Leander Capital Metro rail station, the campus serves one of the fastest-growing areas in the region and will relieve crowding at ACC’s Cypress Creek Campus. This campus will primarily offer general education courses and includes the college’s second ACCelerator learning center. The budget for this phase of the campus is $60 M and includes approx. 106,000 GSF of building with an initial enrollment capacity of 2,500.
