MWM developed a plan and preliminary design for the replacement of existing amenities in Pfluger Park. MWM DesignGroup verified that the existing restrooms were located within the floodplain of Gilleland Creek, and worked with the floodplain administrator to identify viable alternatives for redevelopment. Following these consultations, MWM recommended the reconstruction of the facilities at their existing location and elevation as the most economical solution. MWM proposed that the elements of the buildings that would be below the 100-year floodplain be of waterproof and flood-resistant construction, and that all building systems be installed above this elevation. This is a strategy that MWM had successfully employed on the completed buildings for Brushy Creek Recreation Park, which were inundated following Tropical Storm Hermine, and economically returned to service.
